My Lord's Prayer - Matthew 6:9-13 by Chris Harle - based on the King James version; which appears above my personal 'paraphrase'. Got a moment? [Romans 8:15 KJV “Abba, Father” “Abba” intimate Aramaic for father. “Papa” The Message (MSG). “we call out to Him, ‘Abba! Father!’ as we would address a loving daddy.” The Voice (VOICE)] 9c which art in heaven, - with Your “Jesus” plan (John 14:6) I can reach You anywhere; Heaven is right here beside me, 9d Hallowed be thy name. (Psalm 89:16, Psalm 113:2) - just to hear Your name makes me happy. N.B. the presentation reads "Hallowed BY your name". This is a mistake, but I let it remain as we are indeed hallowed (blessed) by GOD's name (Ephesians 1:3 might help). 10a Thy kingdom come, - I can’t wait for the day when You come to live with us, (Revelation 21:3) 10b Thy will be done in earth, - until then we all say, “whatever You want, we want”, (Luke 22:42) 10c as it is in heaven. - may our lives reflect Your home in Heaven. 11a Give us this day (Matthew 6:34) - I want to trust You one day at a time, 11b our daily bread. - to provide just what I need (discard that ‘wants’ list), food on the table, hope and trust in my heart. 12a And forgive us our debts, (1 John 1:9) - and, please wipe my slate clean, 12b as we forgive our debtors. (Luke 23:34) - in the same way I don’t hold on to bad thoughts towards those who have hurt me. 13a And lead us not into temptation, (James 1:13) - thanks for giving me freedom, but I’m asking you to cap my tests to what I (with your help) can handle. ("cap" i.e. limit). 13b but deliver us from evil: (Psalm 23:4), (1 Corinthians 10:13) - keep anything wicked (self-seeking) from my door and from my mind: 13c For thine is the kingdom, - For You are the King of this Earth-Dome, 13d and the power, - and Your love rules, 13e and the glory, - and Your love shines in all You have created (and re-created in me, through Jesus), 13f for ever. - Today, tomorrow, and the next day, year, eon, (it will never end!), 13g Amen. - That’s all I wanted to say just now. I know You listen to me, because You love me. I’ll be back soon to chat again, is that alright? P.S. Thanks for always being online (the connection’s really good today). NOTE: some Greeks manuscripts omit verse 13c-g. NOTE 1: The word aeon /ˈiːɒn/, also spelled eon (in American English), originally meant "life", "vital force" or "being", "generation" or "a period of time", though it tended to be translated as "age" in the sense of "ages", "forever", "timeless" or "for eternity". It is a Latin transliteration from the koine Greek word ὁ αἰών (ho aion), from the archaic αἰϝών (aiwon). In Homer it typically refers to life or lifespan. Its latest meaning is more or less similar to the Sanskrit word kalpa and Hebrew word olam. A cognate Latin word aevum or aeuum (cf. αἰϝών) for "age" is present in words such as longevity and mediaeval. Although the term aeon may be used in reference to a period of a billion years (especially in geology, cosmology and astronomy), its more common usage is for any long, indefinite period. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeon NOTE 2: This is one way of understanding the Lord’s prayer (side by side with the King James Version), by Chris Harle. Please, I am not suggesting anyone prays my words, but I need to analyse the words of the Bible so as to understand (I do not want to recite blindly). Here is one traditional Catholic, Dr Taylor Marshall, who opposes Pope Francis change from "Lead us not into temptation" to 'do not abandon us to temptation', "Pope Francis Changed Our Father Prayer?
