(27 May 2014) Hundreds of anti-coup protesters continued to defy the new military government in Thailand on Tuesday, gathering for a fifth successive day in opposition to the army takeover and to call for elections. Protesters in Bangkok chanted anti-coup slogans and some scuffled with police officers. However, the rally however ended peacefully with no crackdown, despite coup leader General Prayuth Chan-Ocha, warning protesters that he would enforce the law against them if they kept coming out One soldier, who attempted to disperse the demonstrators got pushed away and eventually walked off with a smile on his face. The protests remain small as most people in the capital seem to support the coup, which appears to have restored order to a city weary of six month of street protests, disruption and violence.
