SpongeBob music on vinyl: "12th Street Rag" [Twelfth Street Rag with bass!] by Jo Ann Castle, 1960

It's still a song used in SpongeBob SquarePants! Jo Ann Castle's cover [with brass bass, banjo, and drums] makes a great pastiche "silent film" accompaniment, so here it is on Dot DLP 3249, mono 33⅓rpm LP album. The original Twelfth Street Rag was composed by Euday L. Bowman around the early 1900s. He finally got it published in 1914, and it became a classic soon thereafter, with recordings by the likes of Earl Fuller and Bennie Moten and their bands, plenty of piano rolls, and all sorts of arrangements. While Sage Guyton, Jeremy Wakefield, and Nicolas Carr put their distinctive spin on the Hawaiian version used in SpongeBob SquarePants, this augmented piano version is nice in its own right.
