According to an official brief issued today, the Union Health Ministry is monitoring the seasonal influenza situation in various states and union territories in real-time via the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) network, adding that cases are expected to decline by March end. The Ministry also stated that it monitors morbidity and mortality due to the H3N2 subtype of seasonal influenza. The bill proposes reserving 33% of Lok Sabha seats and all state legislative assemblies for women. "Young children and old age persons with co-morbidities are the most vulnerable groups in the context of seasonal influenza.
