On Oct. 29, the Gannon University Golden Knights defeated ESU's Men's Soccer team 1-0 in double-overtime. The loss eliminated the Warriors from playing in the postseason 2016 PSAC Tournament. We pick up the scoreless game with a bit less than five minutes left in double-overtime. During the first minute of the video, ESU's Women's Soccer team can be seen across the field on the sideline being quite vocal in support of the men's team. One minute-and-a-half into the video, one of Gannon's players manages to get behind ESU's defense, but his point-blank shot is punched out by ESU sophomore goalkeeper Will Boerema. However, the rebound goes to Gannon senior forward Hamza Mourchid, who bends it past Boerema to lift Gannon past ESU. It was euphoria for Gannon and heartbreak for ESU. But overall, good sportsmanship was on display after a tough and very competitive game. Boerema played the part of Tim Howard and was outstanding in defeat. The Golden Knights outshot the Warriors 14-10 for the game, but Boerema's four saves kept ESU in the game and gave the Warriors a fighting chance until the end.
