Morning Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips has a look at the weather ahead. Slightly colder morning temperatures have developed for some after yesterday's slightly calmer winds. Few areas to the north are starting off around the upper single-digit temperatures to temperatures in the upper teens to lower 20s being widespread in the northern half of the region, while near-to-below-freezing temperatures in the 20s to the 30s are present in central to southern areas. Some thin clouds will pass through but mostly sunny skies will be in store with temperatures rising above normal in the high 30s to low 60s in the northern half of the region with snowmelt, while areas to the south will mostly range from the high 40s to low 70s. Warmer air today will develop because of pesky northwesterly winds going up, over, and down, the southeast-sloped mountain faces, sinking, compressing, drying, & spreading a warming process at the surface as a result, especially in southeastern areas. Ridging of high pressure will also lead to sinking, compressing, drying, & widespread warming conditions at the surface ahead. Less moisture is present as the pendulum swing pattern of somewhat-damp mornings for a few with breezy easterly winds shifting to southwesterly drier winds in the afternoons will still continue periodically ahead. Mostly sunny, even milder, and even drier conditions with occasional days of gustier west-northwesterly winds will continue throughout the week.
