KING KASONGO — SEASON 2, EPISODE 2: THE CHOSEN The Savannah has no king. With Kasongo gone into exile, the tribes gather deep in the ancient forest where a single battle axe rests upon the sacred stone altar. The law is simple and older than any crown: whoever lifts the axe rules the land. One by one they come. The leopards step forward and fail. The ratels refuse the crown entirely, choosing instead to stand behind whoever the land chooses. The rhinos come with pride and leave without it. The gorillas bring their strength and the stone does not answer. Then the lions arrive. But far across the freezing ocean, in a palace of grey stone and scarlet guards, an exiled king walks a long corridor toward a throne that is not his own. Kasongo has come to bargain with the Western Alliance — and the price they are asking is not gold. It is the land itself. A crown is won in the forest. A kingdom is sold in a foreign hall. And neither side knows what the other has done. The elders say a man who borrows a sword to fight his neighbour will one day feel that blade on his own neck.
