In this master class, I share my detailed method of wet felting a wool sauna hat. No talking or drawn-out explanations — just the step-by-step felting process with helpful notes throughout the video. In this project I used 130 grams of natural-coloured Australian Corriedale wool, which I hand-washed and carded myself. I used 10 grams for the loop and 120 grams for the hat — 60 grams on each side. The resist measures 45 cm in height and 50 cm in width. To create it, make a 45 × 50 cm rectangle and round the upper corners where the top of the hat will be shaped. After felting, my hat shrank by about 40% compared to the original template size, giving a shrinkage rate of approximately 1.6. The final hat size is about 60 cm around and 28 cm high. If you’d like a smaller hat or want to felt it faster with less effort, simply make the template smaller while keeping the same proportions.
