Tree Of Life (2011) - Hagfilms Honest Reviews Terence Malick's most recent project is the tremendous Tree Of Life - starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Jessica Chastain, Hunter McCracken as well as featuring the beautiful cinematography from Emmanuel Lubezki, the astounding special effects of Douglas Trumball and the vast and spiritual score by compposer Alaxander Desplat. Tree Of Life is certainly the most experimental film that reclusive director Malick has so far created, and journeys way beyond the comprehensible narrative of cinema as we know it. This compelling and awesome film studies family values within the vast complexities of the universe and was the worthy winner of this years Palme d'Or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. That being said though - I'm sure that Malick is an acquired taste, and that many movie goers out there will struggle to enjoy this abstract film.
