Here's why the changes were necessary. For years, the walkers on TWD existed as a modern interpretation of the George Romero-style zombies first seen in Night of the Living Dead. They were nothing more than mindless, wandering corpses with the simple purpose of feeding an insatiable quest for flesh and blood. That all changed in the post-credits scene for The Walking Dead: World Beyond. In that scene, a woman was killed and reanimated, which TWD had shown on countless occasions -- but this time she came to life much quicker than normal, and she immediately remembered her attacker and literally ran after him.
