Reflection by Father Marcelo López. Luke 14:25-33.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke (14:25-33): At that time, a large crowd was accompanying Jesus. He turned and said to them, "If anyone comes to me and does not reject father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not take up his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. So which of you, intending to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost to see if he has enough to finish it? Otherwise, if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, those who are watching will mock him, saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.' Or what king, going to give battle to another king, does not first sit down and consider whether he will be able with ten thousand men to meet him who attacks him with twenty thousand? " And if not, while the other is still far away, he sends envoys to ask for terms of peace. Therefore, no one among you can be my disciple who does not renounce all his possessions."
