Ukrainian forces have launched a new effort to land troops on the left bank of the Dnipro river in the 77th week of the war. Severe flooding in the region after the destruction of the Kakhovka dam in June had made counteroffensive action impossible so far. Kyiv said “Russian terrorist troops” conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in Kupyansk and Bakhmut directions in the past 24 hours. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine claimed a total of 15 combat engagements with the Russian troops on August 16. Meanwhile, Ukraine admits that it will not be able to operate US-built F-16 fighter jets this coming autumn and winter. “It’s already obvious we won’t be able to defend Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets during this autumn and winter,” air force spokesperson Yuriy Ihnat said. US President Joe Biden endorsed training programmes for Ukrainian pilots on F-16s in May but no timing for the supply of war planes has been given so far. #russiaukrainewar #ukraine #zelensky #putin #f16 #ukraineairforce n18oc_world n18oc_crux 0:00 INTRODUCTION 2:25 “THOUSANDS OF MUSCOVITES FIGHTING IN UKRAINE” 3:41 UKRAINE CONFIRMS IT WILL NOT GET F-16s IN 2023 4:18 KYIV TO INCREASE PRODUCTION OF DRONES CRUX is your daily video news guide to the big events that are shaping our world.
