Gaurav Sharma, an Independent Energy Analyst comments on how the oil prices are impacting the major and minor listed oil production companies and airlines. For the big oil companies such as Shell, BP and BG Group, falls in the price of crude oil is of course price negative for them but they've been here before in various points in history and they have the capacity to cope. Now BG's share price is not doing too well at the moment, but BG has some extra problems; some of its projects haven't materialised, some of it related to Egypt due to political matters. Most of the European airlines like Easyjet and Ryanair make use of widespread hedging so any oil price changes won't effect them in the short to medium term. This is unlike their American rivals like Delta and Alaska airlines which don't really make much use of hedging.
