(28 Jul 2017) Israeli police were on high alert Friday ahead of Muslim prayers at a major Jerusalem shrine at the centre of recent tensions. The security measures come after come 50 people were reported injured in clashes that erupted after a holy site in Jerusalem was opened to Muslim worshippers for the first time in two weeks. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said only men over the of 50 and women of all ages will be allowed into the holy site. He also said several arrests have been made to prevent any riots. Friday prayers are the highlight of the Muslim religious week.
