Venice Architecture Biennale 2023 Walkthrough: The Laboratory of the Future / Giardini

Connect with me:   / hugh_design   This video is a exploration by foot of the Giardini area at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023. The Laboratory of the Future Is about experiments- the 'laboratory' is inherently unfinished and open ended- encouraging new thought- based on challenging preconceptions. Laboratory of the future also begs the question: What do you want the future to be? While the themes of 'Decarbonisation and Decolonisation' refocuses attention from the global north to equity the rest of the world- contextualised by entering the Arsenale through the Blue hour space; symbolising the start something new, a period of change and melancholy, when you may prepare oneself for a new journey. By comparison the Giardini focuses more on the Dissolution of boarders, and how we can rise to challenges being faced globally through rethinking existing design practises; also exploring peripheral practices of literature, poetry, journalism, archaeology.
