Federal Headship

In the covenant of works, Adam did not only act on his own behalf; he also represented all who would descend from him by ordinary generation. Paul explains this in Romans 5:12–21, where he also teaches that Christ federally represents the elect. Adam and Christ are public persons, federal heads, covenant representatives.
