Queensland authorities have warned travellers could be subjected to delays – potentially up to three days – as the state launches a new system administering border passes in a bid to streamline the service. The new service will see people seeking a border pass to enter the Sunshine State answer a range of questions online, with their answers formulating the type of pass required. The old system required people to essentially choose the type of pass they believed they needed to cross into Queensland. The upgrade was intended to cut waiting times at the Coolangatta border check point, however, officials warned there could be a number of technical glitches during the first few days of usage. Meanwhile, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk remained firm on her border closure to Victoria and Greater Sydney as cases in both regions drop significantly. The decision will be reviewed at the end of November.
