SM64 - Metal-Head Mario Can Move! - 0x A Presses

I collect the star Metal-Head Mario Can Move! in Hazy Maze Cave using 0 A Presses. A big thanks to Plush for discovering a way to build up high speed in the cavern! This video is an improvement from my previous video in which I collected this star in 2 A presses. You can find that video here:    • SM64 - Metal-Head Mario Can Move! - 2x A P...  . Since then, Plush discovered a way to build up momentum using water and sliding, which we'll call Hyper Speed Water Sliding. You see, Mario conserves his momentum when he enters water. When he exits water, we can press Z to have Mario conserve this momentum. Additionally, we can press C^ so that Mario maintains a standing position as he slides. By sliding downhill in this fashion, Mario gains speed, and so this process can be repeated to achieve a very high speed. And so, using this technique of Plush's, I then worked out a way to collect the star using 0x A presses. Specifically, by sliding up Dorrie, Mario is able to get into a sitting position, bounce on the scuttle bug, and collect the star. Note that I had to first enter the hallway in order to release the scuttle bug, since he doesn't come out until you go close enough to his pit. Furthermore, it was necessary for me to activate him again to make him turn around and face away from the door, hence why I walk back towards the hallway at 1:04. Without this step, the scuttle bug would be facing towards the door, and so he would see Mario enter (with his super speed), jump up to attack, and be too high for Mario to bounce on. Although I could have achieved more speed, I decided to stop at 496. You see, with too little speed, Mario would not be able to clip through the door. And with too much speed, Mario would not be able to achieve a sitting position off of Dorrie. To achieve the sitting position, it was necessary to stay on Dorrie for 3 whole frames, so that Mario could do a punch (whereas a B input any earlier would result in a ZB move). And with too much speed, Mario doesn't stay on Dorrie for those 3 frames. And so, 496 was both fast enough and slow enough to satisfy the requirements. .m64 stats: length: 5 minutes and 21 seconds re-records: 3163 ABC Playlist:    • Super Mario 64 - A Button Challenge   ABC Routes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y...
