#19 Caravan WATER cleaning & sterilisation: Elsan Fresh Water Tank Cleaner

HOW TO: cleaning & disinfecting the water system in our caravan. We are getting it ready for the season. Today I will show you how to clean and disinfect your water system in a caravan or a camping trailer if you are in the US. Elsan Fresh Water Tank Cleaner 1L - https://amzn.to/3iYR2ln There is a lot of housekeeping when you are caravanning full time and one of the regular tasks is keeping your water tank clean and free from algae and other nasty things, such us bacteria and stale smell. I do not like to drink water from the tap in a caravan, and I prefer to fill my kettle from the tap outside, hopefully after water cleaning I will not have to nip outside, which is annoying when it's cold and wet. The pump hose also needs cleaning, so I will clean the hose first before using Elsan Fresh Water Tank Cleaner to disinfect the water tank and pipes. We have a float refill valve in our aqua roll, which means that fresh water fills itself up. Clean, fresh water is important when you are caravanning, nut you have to keep on top of cleaning water system to avoid illness. I pour 200 ml of my elsan fresh water tank cleaner into water tank and I top it up with fresh water and leave over night. On the next day I open taps in a caravan to pump out water from water tank, tip the rest and rinse the water tank with fresh water. After running clean water through taps for most of the day I finally do the tasting. It worked! Water tastes fresh and there is no bad smell. What's great is that I still have enough elsan product to clean our water system 4 times more! So that's another lesson on caravan life, and another thing which you do when living in a caravan or motorhome full time. Luckily we have a water tap on our camping pitch so we have easy access to fresh water, however once your fresh water has been pumped and run through old pipes, it is not much fresh anymore, hence the production of fresh water video.
