Bushclass BCUSA Five Manmade Tinders

Here I learn to utilize five manmade tinders and use nothing but a ferro rod to ignite them. This is a course objective for Bushcraft USA's Bushclass. I prefer the cotton swabs soaked in vaseline, as they are cheap, practical, and can serve more than one function. Next runner up is definitely Zip BBQ starter. I had high hopes for the Norcal Deadfire, but I was not impressed. It did light, but it went out, and I believe a good emergency tinder should NOT. The insta fire was lack lustre, my paper bag lit up better. Upon reviewing the video footage, I may have not let the Dead fire breath enough by having the lid too close to being completely shut. Overall, this was an excellent exercise and I learned more about my fire steel and how it reacts with various tinders. Thanks for sharing my experience as I learn!
