Battle of Okinawa in 2 Minutes

Battle of Okinawa in 2 Minutes

Okinawa was the last major battle of World War Two. Both sides realised its importance, as if the US could capture it, it would provide a launchpad to mount an invasion of Japan. Fierce fighting took place on land, at sea and from the air. Although they were outnumbered and outgunned the Japanese had many elements on their side and both sides suffered heavy losses and it was one of the bloodiest battles in the Pacific War, dubbed by some the Typhoon of Steel.
