DeSantis' Inauguration Was Paid For By Companies He Attacked As 'Woke'

According to finance records, the very same companies that Florida governor Ron DeSantis has been attacking, usually as being "woke", ended up donating tons of money to his inaugural fund. This only proves that his attacks on the companies are purely performative, and neither he nor those companies are actually mad at one another. Farron Cousins explains what's happening. The people in Florida and across the country who love Ron DeSantis, love to think of him as this hard scrabble guy willing to take on those woke corporations. He's not gonna take any crap from corporate America down here in the state of Florida. And while he might not take any crap from them, he is definitely willing to take their money because according to a new report from the Washington Post, Ron DeSantis raked in tons of cash from those very same corporations he's been at war with because those companies are allegedly, as he calls them, woke. But that didn't stop him from accepting the money or the corporations from giving the money to his recent inaugural fund. Now, as of right now, we do not know how much these companies, which by the way does include Disney lobbyists for Disney, giving money to Ron DeSantis after his well publicized war with the behemoth last summer, but still gave him money. And eventually we'll find out how much other, uh, corporations that DeSantis has attacked as either woke or just leveled other attacks against him that gave money to his inauguration include the BlackRock group, c v s and Walgreens. So DeSantis has been out here and he actually recently attacked both CVS and Walgreens and a press conference attacking these corporations, acting like he's the big bad guy, taking on these corporations that are somehow making your lives bad. Uh, BlackRock definitely is, don't get me wrong here, but then he turns around and takes their money for his massive inaugural ball that he recently had cuz he hopes that nobody's gonna pay attention to that. And for the record, those corporations also hope that nobody's gonna pay attention to that either because it makes both of them look like big giant hypocrites. But that's the point here, folks. DeSantis isn't actually taking on these corporations. Yeah, he's instituted a little bit of punishment for some of them. The Disney punishment is probably gonna be overturned by the Republican controlled legislature down here in Florida. Uh, asked for BlackRock. Uh, BlackRock, yeah, the state divested their funds from BlackRock over their social impact statement, but at the same time, we're allowing them to come through this state, unregulated and literally buy up entire neighborhoods to sell them at jacked up prices. So yeah, you don't get the money from the state, but the state's not also doing a single thing to stop you from price gouging consumers down here in Florida, right? That's the trade off. You still get most of everything you want because Ron DeSantis isn't actually going to touch anything that's actually going to hurt you. In fact, the punishment he enacted on Disney in the end is actually going to save Disney money. So Disney's not even technically being punished. It's the taxpayers in Florida that will get punished with his removal of the Ready Creek Charter. But don't be fooled by any of it. Ron DeSantis, much like most other politicians, usually Republicans is easily bought off by these corporations and that is of course what they're attempting to do here. That's why they gave money for the inauguration and that's why he accepted it because deep down he is no different than any other politician. But this does of course, provide ammo for anyone who might be wanting to take on Ron DeSantis if he runs for president. I would think this is the kind of intelligence that Donald Trump would want to, uh, go out there and publicize showing what a hypocrite Ron DeSantis is, and that even though he plays the tough guy taking on the woke corporations, in reality, all he's actually doing is taking money from them for his own career.
