Gervonta Davis CREATED BIG PROBLEMS FOR Ryan Garcia IN THE FIGHT Devin Haney - Shakur Stevenson Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia is reportedly now signed by the two boxers with an official announcement imminent. The fight is set to take place on April 15 in Las Vegas at a 136 lbs catchweight. It was first announced as a ‘done deal’ by the fighters late last year as all major terms had been agreed, though contracts were still not yet finalised. In the past month, they have been working through issues to rectify this. Now, according to ESPN, this has been achieved as both Davis and Garcia have now signed. The final hurdle left to clear is the broadcaster contracts. Davis is represented by Al Haymon’s PBC and his broadcaster is Showtime. Garcia is promoted by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy and his broadcaster is DAZN. They have agreed a deal in which Garcia’s side agreed to allow him to box on a show staged by PBC and broadcast by Showtime PPV, with the PPV also to be distributed through DAZN. If Garcia wins and Davis activates his rematch clause though, the terms will flip and the second fight would be on a show staged by Golden Boy and broadcast by DAZN PPV. DAZN received their contract from Showtime on Saturday and it was claimed that the expectation was for this to be finalised on Sunday. It’s firmly believed that an announcement is now imminent. De La Hoya told Fight Hub over the weekend: “We’re literally right there, that’s it. Everything is all settled, everything is all agreed upon. “I strongly feel that any second now, any minute now, any hour, both Ryan and Tank will be announcing. “On our end, everything is great. We’re happy, we’re content.” Regarding when the announcement will come, he added: “It has to happen literally in the next couple of days, by Monday or Tuesday. “We cannot wait any longer. The head of the Matchroom Boxing promotion company, Eddie Hearn, believes that regular WBA lightweight world champion Jervonta Davis will defeat Ryan Garcia in their upcoming bout. "It seems to me that Davis will deliver a blow to Garcia's chin and knock him out. You saw how Ryan was seriously shaken by Luke Campbell. I just think Jervonta Davis has a very heavy punch. But at the same time, Ryan Garcia is very fast and can also hit hard. I think it's a very competitive fight. But if you ask me who will win, then I will give preference to Gervonte," Hearn said. The lightweight division is currently set to witness one of its most explosive, and highly anticipated showdowns yet. And will see three-division world champion, Gervonta Davis, and the former WBC interim lightweight titleholder, Ryan Garcia, put their longstanding rivalry to the test. However, there is one individual who has ruled the roost in the lightweight division. The undisputed champion of the division, Devin Haney. It now looks like Davis has a few choice words to say about Haney. Davis is fresh off a knockout victory against Hector Luis Garcia. And is currently in camp training for his fight against ‘KingRy’. This was when ESNEWS caught up with him. In conversation, the interviewer made it a point to call him the ‘king of the 135’. This was when Davis cut him off saying, “Not to cut you off. There’s this one fighter calling out everybody’s names. And then fighting not one of them.” This statement intrigued the interviewer. Who went on to ask Davis if he was talking about Haney. Davis, on the other hand, laughingly nodded in agreement while asking, “How did you know? How did you say that on the first try?” It is worth noting that this statement came at a time when Davis expressed interest in facing Haney and Shakur Steveson after the ‘KingRy’ fight. The head of the Golden Boy Promotions promotion company Oscar De La Hoya assured that the announcement of the long-awaited lightweight megafight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis should take place this week. "The ball is on their side of the field, but we are literally in place. I don't expect PBC and Showtime to send us anything else. Everything is agreed, we have agreed on everything. So I'm pretty sure that at any second Ryan and Davis can announce their fight. We're doing fine. Everything is fine from our side. We are happy and satisfied. The same goes for the deal with TV channels. We have two TV channels, and it was difficult, but I did it. I'm not sure who is announcing the fight, since PBC is leading the process. They are the main promoter of this fight. We will discuss how this fight will be announced. Most likely, it will be announced by fighters who have a huge number of subscribers. No one knows how this will happen. We are waiting for the fighters to do it. This should happen literally in the next couple of days, on Monday or Tuesday. We can't wait any longer," De La Hoya said. "It will be very interesting because we have seen what problems Garcia has with Luke Campbell.
