VANLIFE FROM FALKIRK TO STIRLING - A WORTHWHILE DETOUR INLAND AND AN UNEXPECTED TREAT
The journey around the entire coastline of mainland Scotland continues with a short but worthwhile detour inland. In this episode, I leave the coast near Falkirk to explore the historic city of Stirling for the first time. Along the way, I visit The Pineapple at Dunmore Estate, one of Scotland’s most unusual buildings, before spending the day discovering Stirling’s rich history. I explore the Wallace Monument, walk the grounds of Stirling Castle and inside its walls, visit the Beheading Stone, take a wander through the old town, including Mar’s Wark, the old cemetery viewpoint, and the Church of the Holy Rude. Between exploring, I take care of everyday vanlife tasks, from washing the van to getting a haircut in town. On the second day, I visit the Bannockburn Visitor Centre to learn more about one of the most important battles in Scottish history before an unexpected invitation takes me just outside Stirling to Solsgirth Home Farm near Dollar. I’m shown around the farm, learn more about how it operates and am gifted a night away from the van in accommodation I definitely wasn’t expecting.
