November 17, 2000 -- (INEZ, Ky.) The defensive battle of the decade is all you need to know about this one. Rockcastle County would slip past Sheldon Clark 7-6 to win a region title. A Chris Parsons to Derrick Bussell bomb put the Rockets on the scoreboard 7-0 late in the 3rd quarter. Moe Spradlin kept the Cardinals' hopes alive with an interception in the 4th quarter. His return would take the ball to the Sheldon Clark 20-yard line where the Redbirds would eventually cash in for six. As with most Jim Matney coached teams, the Cardinals went for the 2-point conversion and the win, but the pass was intercepted. *Two side notes: Rockcastle County's defense in 2000 was ridiculous. Entering this game spanning the previous ten Friday nights, the Rockets had surrendered a scant 21 points! Sheldon Clark was just as stingy with seven shutouts to their credit.
