Amtrak train station in Michigan City Indiana was built in 1950, Operated from April 26 1981 until its closure on April 4 2022 And It served as a stop on the Wolverine & Blue Water routes before service was moved to nearby stations And The building is historically significant often referred to as the old Michigan Central Railroad station. Current Status Closed; passenger service was redirected to the New Buffalo Michigan station. Historical Context: The structure is a brick, Craftsman style building originally built for the Michigan Central Railroad in 1905. Other Service The 11th Street station, located about a mile south, continues to serve the South Shore Line commuter rail. Service began at the new Amtrak station on April 26, 1981. The station closed effective April 4, 2022. No official reason was given for the closure, and passeng trains. Nothing has been done with the vacant building And currently sits deserted as of the recording of this video in March 2026.
