Writing and sharing my story has been one of the most therapeutic things I have ever done. In Paulo Coelho's 'The Zahir', there is a subplot of a group of people who share their trauma weekly. By doing so they let go if its hold on them and the story becomes the universes. With each retelling, they are no longer as connected to it as they previously were. They are healing. I have found the same true for my work. Finishing 'Under the Influence - Reclaiming my Childhood' has done wonders for my mental health. Whilst I still remember the events, they don't impact me any where near as much.
