The power of the gift of life. How the selfless act of a living donor changed a family's life. (P1)

This segment is Part 1 in an interview with Alexis and Rob MacKay-Dunn as they return to PLUGGED IN to share with viewers their good-news story about how a living donor donated a life-saving kidney to Alexis and in the process gave this young family the most precious gift of all - a healthy wife and mother. This heart-warming story is the final chapter in our interview series with Alexis and Rob who have courageously shared the story of Alexis' journey from CKD diagnosis, to pregnancy's, through child birth, dialysis, kidney transplantation and Covid-19. Their journey over the past few years has taken them on an emotional roller that you may need to hear to believe. It's not easy for many people to open up and share publicly such a personal and emotional journey and PLUGGED IN is very thank full to Alexis and Rob for being so open about the challenges and fear faced, the triumphs big and small along the way and the hopes and goals they hold for the future. As Alexis and Rob share in the interview, they made the conscious decision to speak publicly about their story in hopes of helping others who may find themselves facing a similar situation and may find hope in knowing they are not alone in their journey. By sharing their journey Alexis and Rob have helped so many in many ways. Their story has a happy ending but their journey does not end here. Rob and Alexis are strong advocates for organ donation and dedicated to continuing to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation registration. We look forward to having them back on PLUGGED IN in future episodes. So stay tuned!
