He spoke to a gathering in Berlin aimed at helping to mobilize international support for Ukraine’s reconstruction. The meeting was co-hosted by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Scholz said he's looking for to create "a new Marshall plan for the 21st century" - a reference to the U.S.-sponsored plan that helped revive western European economies after World War II. Von der Leyen said the World Bank puts the cost of damage to Ukraine so far at 350 billion euros ($345 billion), and stressed that in addition to longer-term help, Ukraine needed "fast rehabilitation right now" as Russia targets Ukrainian electricity and other infrastructure ahead of the onset of the winter. =========================================================== Clients are reminded: (i) to check the terms of their licence agreements for use of content outside news programming and that further advice and assistance can be obtained from the AP Archive on: Tel +44 (0) 20 7482 7482 Email: [email protected] (ii) they should check with the applicable collecting society in their Territory regarding the clearance of any sound recording or performance included within the AP Television News service Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork Twitter:   / ap_archive   Facebook:   / aparchives    Instagram:   / apnews   You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
