This is the world of The Witcher 2! At the beginning, you accompany the Temerian King Foltest on an attack against the castle of the rival noble family La Vallette. King Foltest was almost murdered by an assassin in the first game. However, the assassin was killed by Geralt's blade. Now you fight the defenders several times and gradually explore the impressive castle. After the attack ends, Foltest is stabbed in front of Geralt by an unknown, tall, and muscular assailant. The assassin flees, and Geralt is imprisoned for regicide. He manages to escape from the dungeons with the help of Vernon Roche, an agent fighting the non-human resistance group Scoia'tael. Later on, Geralt attempts to find the King's Butcher with the help of various supporting characters, such as Roche, Triss Merigold, and Zoltan, some of whom are familiar from the first Witcher. He visits several different locations and completes various main and side quests. Many quests in the game can be completed in different ways; the dialogue is varied and well-voiced, and you can influence them through various actions.
