Today, we’re diving into an essential topic: HCF and LCM of real numbers. First, let’s understand what HCF, or Highest Common Factor, is. It’s the largest number that can exactly divide two or more numbers. For example, to find the HCF of 12 and 16, we look for the factors of each. The factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12, while the factors of 16 are 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16. The highest common factor here is 4. Now, let’s move on to LCM, or Least Common Multiple. This is the smallest number that is a multiple of two or more numbers. To find the LCM of 3 and 4, we list the multiples. The multiples of 3 are 3, 6, 9, 12, and for 4, they are 4, 8, 12, 16.
