Kroger reopens renovated Monroe Street store in North Nashville after six-month closure

After six months of renovation, Kroger is reopening its Monroe Street store in North Nashville with a fresh look, expanded features, and new opportunities for the community it has served for nearly three decades. The grocery giant held a grand reopening on Wednesday, November 12, at 9 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music from the Pearl Cohn High School Band, and product sampling and giveaways throughout the morning. The newly remodeled store, located at 800 Monroe Street, represents a $22 million investment and now spans more than 72,000 square feet. It features a new Starbucks, Murray’s Cheese Shop, an updated décor package, and an expanded grocery selection. Customers will also now have access to Kroger Pickup, offering additional convenience for shoppers in the area. A major upgrade after community concern The Monroe Street Kroger has long been a lifeline for many in Germantown and North Nashville, especially elderly residents who rely on nearby grocery access. When the store closed for renovations earlier this year, community members expressed concern about losing one of the few full-service grocery options in the area. Now, Kroger says it’s reopening “bigger and better than ever.” “We’re thrilled to welcome customers back to the new Monroe Street Kroger,” said Sonya Hostetler, President of the Kroger Nashville Division. “This store has served the community for nearly 30 years, and we’re excited to reopen its doors in a bigger and better way—with more variety, more convenience, and the same great value and service our customers know and love.” New jobs and community giving The renovation also supports local job growth, adding 50 new positions to the store’s team. During the reopening event, Kroger will present a $5,000 donation to the nonprofit Inspiritus, which supports community development and family services across Middle Tennessee. Celebration and giveaways The celebration runs from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and customers visiting during that time can enter to win free groceries for a year by scanning QR codes located throughout the store. Kroger leaders say this reopening is about more than just a remodel—it’s a renewed commitment to North Nashville’s future. “It’s not just about new shelves or lights,” Hostetler said. “It’s about continuing to invest in the neighborhoods that have invested in us.” Read the story here: https://fox17.com/news/local/kroger-r... _______________ Follow!
