Johann Sebastian Bach: Prelude and Fugue in D Major, BWV 850 [performed by Joshua David Davis]

Bach’s preludes and fugues are my favorite piano works. It took a long time for me to fall in love with the music of J. S. Bach. I was unaware of his prelude and fugues until college. But in those, I found his skill of writing unique melodic lines, His great sense of harmonic movement, his amazing use of sequence, and a gift at combining multiple melodies together in order to make a synchronized and beautiful work of art. His composition style certainly set the stage for other composers such as Mozart and Beethoven. And here I am in 2023, still amazed at his musical brilliance.
