1 killed, 1 critically injured in suspected DUI crash on northbound I-5 in Carlsbad

A person was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Wednesday after a fatal accident shut down northbound Interstate 5 near in Carlsbad. A two-vehicle collision involving a gray Toyota Prius was reported on I-5 at La Costa Avenue around 3 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. One person was pronounced dead and another was transported in critical condition to a hospital. One driver was arrested for suspected drunken driving, according to CHP.
