Anti-war activists protest against UK air strikes on Syria Anti-war activists gathered outside the Houses of Parliament in London on Tuesday, protesting against Prime Minister David Cameron who urged Parliament members to back the air strikes on Syria. The protest was held one day prior to Cameron’s debate with his opponents over whether the UK should launch air strikes on Syrian extremist groups. "Over the past 14 years, Britain has been involved in three wars in Muslim countries around the world. All of which have been a disaster, all of which have not been resolved peacefully, all three countries are still in turmoil. Another one will only add to that turmoil. It is time that we say enough wars, and we tell David Cameron no air strikes in Syria," said a protester. Some protesters doubted that sheer military action would guarantee the defeat of extremist groups once and for all. On the contrary, it could bring side effects that many would dislike, they said. "Bombing Syria will be totally futile; it won't help anything. It will increase radicalization, and cause disruption to the stability of the whole world. The people who suffer will be innocent victims. Bombing Syria could only be described as against the will of the people, and against ordinary people. I think that David Cameron has been so callous and opportunist to use what happened in Paris to further his own agenda. This is not the will of the British people," said a protester. The U.S.-led coalition has undertaken air strikes in Syria for 15 months during the five years of conflict in the country. More on: http://newscontent.cctv.com/NewJsp/ne...
