Fun London Guides - Waterloo Bridge

Waterloo Bridge is mentioned in Waterloo Sunset, one of The Kinks' most famous songs and loved by most Londoners. In fact, most people I know start to hum this tune whenever they walk over Waterloo Bridge, especially as the sun is going down. (Click here for more videos like this: http://joolzguides.com SUPPORT MY CHANNEL ON PATREON ➜   / joolzguides  ) When the bridge was rebuilt during the war it was necessary to employ women to do the labouring as there was a shortage of men, leading it to be called the "Woman's Bridge". Waterloo bridge connects Aldwych and Covent Garden with Waterloo Station and there are many buses which you can take from here also to all parts of north and south London. The views from the bridge are amongst my favourite in London as you can see all the most beautiful buildings along the river from here. It was also on Waterloo Bridge that the bulgarian spy Georgi Markov was killed with a poisoned umbrella. Underneath Waterloo Bridge is the British Film Institute (BFI) and a second had book market. There is also a skateboard park which is very popular amongst young skater dudes.
