Christians ask for big things from God - Isaiah 64:1-2 - Midweek Advent 1 - December 3, 2025

We have one recourse. Isaiah fell back upon it. When we feel the earth move, the water boil, and understand what it means for the Lord to tear open heaven, we turn to God, "But you are our Father ... O Lord you are our Father." It's so important Isaiah prayed it twice. This is all we have. "We're clay. Shape us, form us, fashion us. Do the work. Make me something that can survive you." Incredibly, the Lords says, "Okay." In Isaiah 65 he promises "new heavens and new earth" where "the former things will not be remembered." Oh. My. Goodness Spee's plea has hope: "Lead us with mighty hand from exile to our promised land". Preacher: Pr. Benjamin Tomczak
