Red-bellied Woodpeckers are beautiful birds to welcome to your yard and are easily attracted by suet, sunflower chips, peanut, and oranges (in the spring and summer). Male and female Red-bellied Woodpeckers look slightly different. Males sport a vibrant red coloring running from their nape to their forehead. Females have red napes and grayish caps with just a touch of ruby at the base of their bills. Juvenile Red-bellied Woodpeckers have plain, nondescript heads with a subdued red hue. Attracting Red-bellied parents assures you will see the adorable juveniles later in the summer. They’re a joy to see as they explore being out on their own and taking in the signs and sounds of your backyard. #birdsvideo #animalsvideo #woodpecker #birdwatching #nature #birds #wildbirds #wildlifephotography #naturelovers #backyardbirds #fledgling Stick around for the birdcalls, stay for the vibes, and don’t forget to subscribe for more front-row views of backyard headliners!
