As a Reconciling in Christ Congregation, we welcome all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions based on our belief in a radically inclusive Jesus who loved all people regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, religion, economic, social status, or physical abilities. Saint Luke Ministries strives to be a place “Where all are welcomed, period.” About Today's Service We are at the final Sunday of Advent, and the lighting of the fourth candle represents love; it is often called the Angel's Candle (pink in color) because of God's enormous love in sending Jesus. Jesus came that we may have life, and that life more abundantly. As we continue to celebrate and enjoy the Holiday Season, let there be peace on earth. Today Isaiah prophesies that a young woman will bear a son and name him Emmanuel. The gospel is Matthew’s account of the annunciation and birth of the one named Emmanuel, God-with-us. During these final days of Advent we pray, “O come, O come, Emmanuel,” a beloved hymn based on the O Antiphons, ancient prayers appointed for the seven days preceding Christmas. On this final Sunday of Advent we prepare to celebrate the birth of the one born to save us from the power of sin and death. Prayer requests may be shared via stlukechicago.org/prayer The mission of Saint Luke Ministries includes worship, service, education, and advocacy.
