12.07.2018 | 2:15 AM | WESTMINSTER - At least 1,400 customers were without power after a suspected DUI driver slammed into a power pole, Friday morning. Police responded to the reported crash near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and 21st Street around 2:15 AM. Units arriving on scene located a pickup truck that had apparently collided with a power pole, downing it. The driver was uninjured, but believed to be under the influence. Officers administered field sobriety tests before placing the driver into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. The road was closed and over 1,400 customers were without power while Southern California Edison responded to the scene of the downed power pole. There was no word on when power might be restored.
