Korean military fires warning shots across border with N. Korea We begin with news coming out of the inter-Korean border. The South Korean military says... it has fired more warning shots across its border with the North earlier in the day. An official at Seoul′s Joint Chiefs of Staff says... around 10 North Korean soldiers approached the military demarcation line near Paju, north of Seoul this morning. 20 warning shots were fired... following verbal warnings... not to come any closer. The official added... that the North′s military did not shoot back... and retreated early this afternoon. Last month, the two Koreas exchanged fire on two separate occasions across their shared border. Title: Presidents Park, Xi agree on need for 3-way FM meeting with Japan The leaders of Korea and China, meeting on the sidelines of the APEC Summit in Beijing Monday, agreed that they should consider a tripartite foreign ministers′ meeting with Japan before the year′s end. Touting President Park Geun-hye′s initiatives to restore peace in Northeast Asia, President Xi Jinping pledged Beijing′s active support. This comes as President Xi is reported to have met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the same day amid historical and territorial differences that have caused tensions in the region. On North Korea, Beijing said it clearly opposes Pyongyang′s nuclear development program, and that it abides by the UN Security Council′s resolutions against it. Title: Korea, China announce conclusion of bilateral FTA Another major news coming out of the Korea-China summit... was that the two countries have wrapped up negotiations for their bilateral free trade deal. With President Park Geun-hye and Chinese leader Xi Jinping in attendance, the two countries signed off on the agreed minutes. There are some legal fine-tuning left, but Seoul and Beijing hope the deal goes into effect sometime in the middle of next year. Choi You-sun files this report from Beijing. Korea and China began talks on a bilateral free trade agreement back in May of 2012. After a tug-of-war that lasted 30 months, and strong opposition from Korea′s farming community, the two countries′ leaders, meeting on the sidelines of the APEC Summit in Beijing, declared the conclusion of their FTA talks on Monday. Seoul and Beijing have announced they will remove tariffs on more than 90 percent of their previously-agreed products over the next 20 years. And rice, a super-sensitive product for Korean farmers, has been excluded altogether. "We have agreed to completely exclude rice from the Korea-China FTA and it will not be subject to the deal in any way. Also, the liberalization of agricultural products is at Korea′s lowest, 70 percent in terms of products, and 40 in terms of the import price." More than 6-hundred agricultural and livestock
