Is it Paradise to Retire in Pattaya...??? - Vlog 118 A Pattaya Vlog where I took a stroll down Soi 1 past some hotels, then went for a coffee in a nice but relatively unknown coffee shop, lastly I ventured onto the beach while the late afternoon sun was shining. I saw plenty of older guys chilling around the beach area without a care in the world. It looked like paradise to me... Construction noise near my hotel: When I checked into Sabai Wing hotel I noticed a lot of construction happening across the road from the hotel. When I checked in I made sure to ask for a quiet room away from the daytime noise, and that's exactly what I was given. Health and Safety In a previous Patong video there was a guy sledgehammering a wall with no eye protection. I think the WTF moment in this video with a guy cutting metal 'towards himself' while standing 8 foot precariously on a metal gate trumps him. He receives the award for the best worst Health and Safety conscious person :) Soi 1 hotels, good but not good enough I passed Crown Pattaya Beach hotel, Jean Boutique hotel and Summer Spring. All these hotels are ageing and don't make the grade for my top Pattaya hotels $20-40. Even Sabai Wing where I stayed (review coming soon) was only good enough to reach the 'also consider' section. Undeveloped land between Soi 6 the Hard Rock Hotel. There's a small stretch of single story businesses between Soi 6 and the Hard Rock Hotel that is just plain weird to me, when the rest of Beach Road is almost entirely built up hotels, shopping centres and residential buildings. It must be only a matter of time before this place gets flattened and some high rises spring up. Mera Mare hotel This place opened in Feb 2016. It is a 4-star, 80 room hotel that is guest friendly. The reviews are well above average and many liken this place to a 5-star so this hotel has been included in the best Pattaya hotels $50+ guide. Pastry Addiction coffee shop This place was charming, a hidden gem of a coffee shop and great to chill out at. Prices were slightly less than Starbucks too for coffee and treats. The food menu was on the pricy side but sometimes you get what you pay for with the food being highly thought of too. Late afternoon sun on Pattaya Beach Life is what you make of it, and this is especially true for tourists and expats in Pattaya. Looking at some of the guys chilling in the afternoon sun, playing chess, drinking from coconuts it looked like paradise to me. Hopefully one day I will join them when I'm a bit older and more wrinkly :) Thank you for watching and subscribe for more videos. Music: The Stolen Car - Olivaw / the-stolen-car
