This was the second of seven top-40 charting singles for the First Edition…and the last one before Kenny’s name was added to the label credits. For me, what really made this performance was the well-balanced close harmony of the group during the repeated “But you know I love you” choruses…which was diminished (IMO) in some of the common stereo versions that mixed Kenny’s voice further out front.
