Thanks Ryan @ManWithNoExpression for playing the mellotron intro! The classical guitar intro to this song was a sample on the Beatles mellotron keyboard, not a real guitar part John Lennon wrote this song in India, and the Beatles made a demo of it in May 1968. They properly recorded the whole song on October 8th, 1968 for the White Album. The backing track consisted of John and George on acoustic guitars and Ringo on brushes, and Yoko on vocals too John either played his Gibson J160e or Martin D28 acoustic. But the session photos from that day show John playing George's 1962 J160, so that's the guitar I'm using for John's part. Mine is a real 1966 J160e! I have electric roundwound strings on it currently George played his Gibson J-200 acoustic, his main acoustic guitar for the White Album, Let It Be, Abbey Road and All Things Must Pass. His guitar part is quieter in the mix than John's, but generally follows the same chords and playing. The original mix of the song has John and George's guitars conjoined to one side of stereo, but the 2018 White Album remaster split the two guitars left and right.
