The soap is skimmed off and used to make tall oil. Black liquor soap can be abrasive and have varying viscosities making it a challenge to pump and seal. Viking Pump has multiple product series that utilize the new O-Pro® seal technology that address the problems of traditional packed pumps that have historically been used to transfer black liquor soap. The cast iron 1124A Series™ features Viking Pump's O-Pro® Barrier seal, which virtually eliminates the leaking and mess associated with packed pumps. These pumps are constructed with abrasive resistant features and have capacities up to 400 gallons per minute. The 1224A Series™ boasts all the features of the 1124A Series™, but also includes jacking which allows pumps to be heated by hot water, steam, or hot oil. They have capacities up to 400 gallons per minute. Finally, the 1127A Series™ is stainless steel and features Viking Pump's O-Pro® Guard seal, which also offers superior sealing capabilities on black liquor soap. They have capacities up to 335 gallons per minute. These products have been proven to solve the pumping and maintenance challenges associated with black liquor soap.
