Pervez Musharraf arrived Friday in Beijing on his fourth visit to longtime ally China in seven months. Musharraf's plane landed shortly after 1 a.m local time, arriving from Sri Lanka. The Pakistani leader has taken pains to reassure China that their decades-old alliance is sound despite his government's recent close ties to the United States. He spent four days touring China in December and made two more one-day visits in January. China is a major arms supplier to Pakistan, which has fought three wars with India. The two South Asian nations have been on a war footing since a December attack on the Indian parliament, which New Delhi blamed on Pakistan-based militants and the Pakistani spy agency _ an accusation that Musharraf's government denies. On Thursday, Musharraf told journalists in Sri Lanka, where he was visiting with a trade delegation, that his country would never start a war with India.
