No more sharing a track, no more cinder track, just great track at the new Bluehawk Sports Complex behind Hudson High School. More from Columbia-Greene Media HUDSON — The Hudson High track and field team debuted its new state-of-the-art facility on Thursday, hosting Coxsackie-Athens. The field has been used for football, but it was the first track meet ever at the new complex. “We have our largest team ever,” Hudson girls coach Jack Connor said. “But it is a young team, with 29 athletes being sophomores or younger. The new track has created a lot of excitement in Hudson and the team is working hard.” Connor feels that his returners are ready to do some big things for the team this year. He expects eighth grader Choudmaya Box and Junior Keesha Woods to lead the team in the sprints; Julia Kasmar, Emily Sullivan and Lili Barglowska to be the top distance runners with eighth grader Kiara Perkins expected to lead the team in middle distance. Danaya Oliver and Nusrat Praya are the top returners in the hurdles. Woods, Praya and Cinnamon Grey look to be the top jumpers and Mona’lisa Carius and Dolincia Virgo will pace the team in the shot and discus. “The goal of each of these ladies is to score in the Patroon and Sectional Championships and they are putting in the hard work to achieve it. They are setting a great example for the newcomers,” Connor said. The girls’ team lost their season-opener on the road against Taconic Hills while the boys team beat the Titans. This was their first meet.
