Biltmore House, Ashville, NC, Candlelight Christmas tour Nov 2020

Personal self guided tour of the 250,000 sq ft mansion built by George Vanderbuilt in late 1800's in Ashville, NC. It took the 25 year old George, still single at the time, 6 years to build. The property is something like 95 sq miles! The local towns people had clearcut most of the property and George planted some 2.9 million trees. The landscaping is beautiful. It took a crew of 250 to build the house. It has 250 rooms, 35 bedrooms, 65 bathrooms and 4 acres of internal space. An indoor pool, gymnasium, kitchen and walk-in refrigerator, rooms for ironing, a special rotisserie, flower prep room are in the basement. 87,000 acres were sold to the govt to preserve the estate for $5 an acre.
