On Tuesday at midday, a serious truck accident involving five trucks occurred on the A2 motorway between Theesen and Burg. One truck driver failed to see the end of a traffic jam at a construction site and crashed into another truck at close range without braking. As a result, a hazardous materials transport truck caught fire, and gas cylinders containing nitrous oxide exploded. Another truck carrying formaldehyde also caught fire, prompting a public warning. Two drivers died in the accident, and another driver was injured. The A2 motorway is completely closed in both directions until Wednesday midday.
