The House of the Rising Sun - The Animals - Cover - Live Vocal. Has a mix of Blues, Folk Rock in the vocal. Many famous artistes have recorded this song, but I think The Animals Version, released around 1964 that is one of the best versions. Such a powerful number that I sang many times when I was working the live club circuits. I remembered the chords and knew the words more or less so decided to give it a shot to see how it turned out. Chords are Am, C, D, F and E (You can add E7 in as I did ) I was curious to know who wrote the song. and during my research, was surprised to learn it dates way back to the 16th / 17th centuries as a folk ballad. The author evidently is of "uncertain origin".. although Wikipedia gives a lot more info on the song and how it developed over the years to the song and lyrics we know today. Either way I still love singing this classic . It's not a perfect take, but then that's what I enjoy about singing cover songs live.
